How it works?
Botox, and all other Botulium Toxin, works by stopping the signals to certain muscle receptors. Once the muscles stop working overtime, this is usually smooths out wrinkles in the skin. Certain muscles that are constantly in spasm or overworked can cause pain and trigger points that lead to TMJ syndrome and migraines. When you put these overworked muscles to sleep, they stop the lactic acid buildup and spasm and finally relax. This can cause a MAJOR relief of symptoms for people with chronic headaches and jaw pain.
How long does it last?
Botox can last up to 3 months on the first application. Future additional applications can increase the effective time frame in most patients. It has been shown to increase effective time ranges to 4 to 5 months per application if continuously treated. This is also preventative for wrinkles and jaw deformities.
